Cold Beauty

A winter's walk can be such a magical thing. There is something so special in that cold crisp golden sunlight. It wakens the senses and touches the imagination in such a powerful way!

I was off work a couple of weeks ago, and in between all the grey rain days we were lucky enough to get out on such a walk. I  took a few pictures to try and catch that chilly russet beauty :)

 And a magnificent sunset....

It seemed as if there was a great castle in the sky!

    1. Thank you, I was so pleased with them. I'd only remembered to take my camera along at the last minute, and then we were treated to this astonishing cloud and light display :))

    1. We came back with frozen ears and noses, it was so windy and so icy! But it made you feel so alive :)) We saw a hawk hunting for little mices, it was astonishing that he could hover almost effortlesly just above the ground whilst the wild winds blew. I tried to take some pictures of him but although I tried to keep out of sight he always seemed to know I was there and would suddenly sweep up higher so that he ended up just a blob in my piccies :/

The island is really very small but does have such wonderful wide open spaces like these downs, and in the winter there are so few tourists we get it back for ourselves at least for a little while ;) xxx

  4. Tanith I do love cold crisp walks more than any other, and love coming home with rosy cheeks. Beautiful photos & what a wonderful castle in the clouds that was.

  5. Thank you Ruthie, happy you enjoyed them:)I so love the games that the clouds play with us, they have so many stories to share.

Sadly here the damp dark days seemed to have moved back in for a while. Always seems to happen just before Yule when we are all wishing for a little festive frostiness. Hope it returns soon :)
